Will Transcript

I Henry Armentrout senr. of the County of Rockingham and Sta[te of Virginia] do make and publish this my Last Will and Testament, hereby revok[ing] [and] [annu]ling all former wills void at any time by me made, and g------ that after my funeral expenses be paid out of my persona[l] [estate?] and also, all other just claims against me.
Secondly that if ------ take place at the time of an outstanding Crop, that it ----- for the use and maintainance of my family.
Thirdly Ten Ae-------- I bequeath unto my Son David let it be more or less Bounde[d] ------ commencing with Henry Armentrout Jnr.[s] line from thense a---- ---low fence to a pair of bars, from thence runing to the roa[d] --- to David Armentrouts House, to Another pair of bars on the ----- of said David Armentrouts House, from thence up the road -------- per corner of the garden, from thence a cropp to a line be[tween] [Hen]ry Armentrout Jnr. And myself; My son David is to have the ------- on the east side leading through the medon, And also on ------- the Spring branch we use.
Fourthly, Eight Acres of land Mov-------- bequeath unto my Daughters Henrietta and Delilah Bo---------- follows, commencing at the North Corner of the garden -------- to the east Corner of the garden from thence to a walnut tree adjoining field, and from thence strait across to the l[ine] [of] [Henry] Armentrout Jnr.
I bequeath unto my Daughter Henrietta ------ - and every thing belonging to it.
Fifthly, the remaining -------- my land is to be for the use and benefit of my Wife and D------- Anna, so long as they shall live, and after their death ---- be divided equally among my five Children; but not -------- Hundred and Twenty five Dollars to be paid out of my estate equ[ally] among the heirs of my deceased son Samuel; Twenty five Do[llars] of the before mentioned sum shall be paid annually unto ------ Samuel's heirs, commencing with the oldest and so on until ------ have received their equal portion.
I do hereby make and or[dain] esteemed friend Phillip Miller Executor of this my last Wl[ll] [and] testament; In Witness whereof, I Henry Armentrout Senr. the ten ---- to this my Will, written one Sheet of paper, set my hand A-- tsi Seventeenth of Apri in the year of our Lord O[ne] [Thousand] Eight Hundred and forty seven.

A writing purporting to be the Last Will and Testament together with Codicil of Henry Armentrout Deceased was presented in court --- was proved by the Oaths of George Overholt and Henry Armentrout Jr. --- witnesses thereto and Ordered to be Recorded and on the [mo]tion of Philip Miller the Executor therein named who made oath -----to and entered into bond with Security in the penalty of ---- --- Conditioned as the Law directs a certificate is granted him [for] obtaining a probate thereof in due form.
