Facts and Events
When I asked who she was named for, my mother told me this story: Our grandmother (Maggie Wynn) named her after a murdered woman in Chicago, Hazel Drew. Her photo had been in the paper and our grandmother thought she was the most beautiful woman she had ever seen so she named mom after her. Strange but true according to mom! (as told by Mary Jean Mullins). 1910 Census Hazel Foskey was enumerated in her father Miles B. Foskey’s household in Frazier District 1503, Pulaski County, Georgia with her mother Maggie, brothers Burrell, Miles B. Jr, Robert L., Emmett W., and sister Fannie. Hazel was 6 months old. She and both parents were born in Georgia. 1920 Census Hazel Foskey was enumerated in her mother Maggie L. Foskey’s household in Militia District 1503, Bleckley County, Georgia with her brothers Burrell, Emmett, Howard and William, and sister Doris. Hazel was 10 years old, and single. She and both parents were born in Georgia. References
