I., April 16, 1682; died Feb. 21, 1764; married (1st) Catherine Pray, who d. Nov. 27, 1728, dau. of John and Sarah (Brown) Pray; married (2nd) Aug 10, 1730, Martha Balcom, b. May 21, 1714; d. May 6, 1794, dau. of Joseph and Phebe Balcom. Hazadiah Comstock had a mare worth L 2 taken from him May 5, 1708, for not training, he being a Quaker. He deeded, Nov. 19, 1730, 100 acres to sons William and Gideon Smithfield, June, 1734, the Assembly voted that he be taken to Massachusetts Bay to have trial on complaint of Jonathan Draper. Hazadiah's will of March 10, 1763, proved March 5, 1764, makes bequests to sons John, Ezekiel, Gideon, Hazadiah; to wife Martha; to daughters Anne Comtock, Rachel Steere, Martha Staples; to children of daughter Catherine Steere, deceased, viz.: Ellsha, Nathan, David, Rachel; to grandchildren Susanna and Anthony Comstock of son Anthony, deceased; to grandchildren Mary Aldrich, Thomas Arnold, and Catherine Arnold.
