Hans Jurgen was a miner of German extraction, one of the colony of Germans living in and around Falun because of the mines. In New Sweden, he became a hatmaker, was elected churchwarden and vestryman of the Old Swede's Church, and owned a pew (a mark of relative wealth and status). References
