  2. Source:Reed, Jacob Whittemore. History of the Reed Family in Europe and America, p. 374, lists Hannah's birth but gives no further information about her. Her mother's will of 1811 mentions her five children, besides the children of her son Luke, so it would seem that Hannah must have lived until then to account for 5 surviving children. There is nothing that looks like her death record in Abington VRs, though without knowledge of her marital state, we are hampered somewhat in our search.

Abington VRs do record the marriage of Daniel Bicknell and Hannah Reed 25 Oct 1780 (Source:Abington, Plymouth, Massachusetts, United States. Vital Records to the Year 1850, p. 2:173). This would seem to be a likely match, except that Source:Hobart, Benjamin. History of the Town of Abington, Plymouth County, Massachusetts, p. 432, says this is Hannah Reed, d/o Thomas Reed and Mary White, b. 24 Oct 1759.

However, that Hannah Reed died 12 May 1763 (Abington VRs, p. 2:339). Thomas and Mary Reed did have another daughter named Hannah, who was born 8 Jan 1764 (Abington VRs, p. 1:183), but this Hannah would have been only 16 at the time of the marriage to Daniel Bicknell. Source:Bicknell, Thomas Williams. History and Genealogy of the Bicknell Family : And Some Collateral Lines of Normandy, Great Britain and America, Comprising, p. 54, suggests the marriage was actually 1781, and not the 1780 that was recorded, since the intention was dated 1781, and then it identifies Daniel's wife as the Hannah b. 1764. This would makes her approaching 18. This is more credible than the History of Abington version.

Before moving to Maine (History of Abington, p. 433; Source:Mitchell, W. H. Brief History of Newport, Maine, p. 6), Daniel and Hannah Bicknell had in Abington: Abia 1782, Nancy 1784, Geney (Jenny or Jane) 1786, and Polly 1790 (Abington VRs, p. 1:30-1). In this form, the children's names offer no clue, but the Bicknell Gen, p. 54, gives a fuller set of children: Abia, Nancy, Jane, Daniel, Mary, Thomas Reed, Hannah, Henry, Isaac. This listing seems to suggest that it was the daughter of Thomas and Mary Reed who married Daniel Bicknell.

This, unfortunately, still leaves us with no idea what happened to Hannah Reed, d/o Elijah and Sarah Reed.
