Gideon Mosher was born in Dartmouth, Massachusetts, June 26, 1732. Gideon married Mary Manchester on November 17, 1753, at Dartmouth. Gideon also had a second wife, Mrs. Hannah Handy. The Gideon Moshers lived at Exeter, Rhode Island, in 1774 and Charlotte, Dutchess County, New York, by 1782. They were Tories during the Revolutionary War. Gideon lived at Hoosick, Rennsselaer County, New York, when married to Mrs. Handy. His name appears in the 1790 census in Norwish, Windsor County, Vermont, and the 1800 and 1810- census, Cambridge, Washington County, New York. His last days were spent with his daughter, one of his five children, at Sharon Vermont. Gideon's lifespan was impressive. He died around February 4, 1818 at the age of eighty six.
