On 25th July 1797, aged 25, George married Susan Dearmer at the neighbouring parish of Wheathampstead. After their marriage they moved to the neighbouring parish of Harpenden, where they had eight children baptised between 1797 and 1816, although three died as babies or young children, and the youngest died as a young woman of 25. George was described as a labourer on the baptisms of some of his children. Back in Kimpton, George's mother died in 1801.
