George went with his parents to MD at age two yrs and returned with them to Richland 10 yrs later. He learned the trade of a blacksmith and followed that vocation in Richland for many years on a lot on the Philadelphia Road, purchased of John Griffth in 1793. In 1804 he purchased a farm of 86 acres in Richland. He failed in business and made a deed of assignment of this farm in 1820. He removed with his family to Ohio.
