He was an adventurer. He was in the California gold mines and went out west looking for gold four or five times. He was known to have bought property in San Fernando Valley. California. He traveled to South America twice, and took a ship to South America down around the horn. It was known that he and many others aboard ship got scurvy and some died. The last time he was heard from was a letter written in red ink to Chary. He was living in California when his mother died in 1922.
