Will of George RICHARDSON

In the name of God Amen:

I George Richardson Sr. of Sugarcreek Township, Tuscarawas county and State of Ohio being weak in body but sound of mind and memory (Blessed be Almighty God f or the same) do make and publish this my last will and testament in mann er and form following that is to say after my decease my body to be decent ly intend in a family burying ground, my executor to be herein after nam ed shall as soon as convenient defray the funeral expences and all other j ust demands against my estate out of the money arising from the sale of pr operty after my decease to my beloved wife Rebekah I give all kitchen furn iture that belongs to us including the dining table and my desk during h er natural life. I do likewise give and allow all the incomes of the pla ce for her support and such of her children as may live with her during h er natural life. I do likewise give and bequeath to my beloved wife thr ee cows, such as she may choose and ten sheep and for the use of herself a nd those living with her I allow six hogs and one steir for beef, and furt her I will and direct that my beloved wife shall have the dwelling hou se we now live in for her use during her natural life and pasture sufficie nt for one horse creater, her cows and sheep and such creaturiz as will ke ep up the stock in number allowed her and have a beef yearly while she liv es and I will and direct that each of the three girls now living wi th us to have a cow and heifer and such other articles toward housekeepi ng as the others that are married got once to be particular those leavi ng us are Martha, Rebecca and Ruth and further I give and bequeath to my b eloved wife a black mare called Bele. I further will and direct the Sug ar Camp lot to be sold as soon as can be done to advantage, say when it wi ll bring 6 or 5 hundred dollars and the money divided equally between my b eloved and the eight lawing named children to wit. Thomas, Martha, Alen, H annah, Elizabeth, George and Rebekah and Ruth of the sale of this pei ce I allow Allen no share for he left me early in life before he was 18 fu rther I allow my son George to have the place i now live on to farm and gi ve his mother the share he his given me until he can have horses a nd C. of his own, and to have it on such terms as his brother Thomas my ex ecutor shall agree on. I allow two of the best and most suitable horses ke pt for the use of the place of farm untill George has of his own and th en this may be sold. I further will and direct that the waggon-geers a nd C. shall be keept for the use of the boys Thomas and George untill th ey can get of there own and if George chooses he may continue on the fa rm during his mothers natural life and if then should be more land than Ge orge can farm Thomas may farm part of it and after the decease of my belov ed wife I then will and direct the real property and my personal on ha nd to be sold and equally divided among my following named children to Tho mas Richardson, Martha Richardson, Ann, Hannah, Elisabeth, George, Rebek ah and Ruth, my son Allen to have one hundred dollars out of ___sale for t he reasons above mentioned when I said above after directing the sale I me ant the money arising from the sale should be so divided buy and if my bel oved wife and children should at any time agree and having a good chance _ _____ I don't forbid them as if my beloved wife should choose to marry aga in then the place to be sold and one third of the money to be put on inter est for her use during her natural life and as it respects the first sa le of chattles, proper after my decease after paying all debts and dema nd the balance to be applied to repairs to wit to covering the barn new a nd likewise the over shot and other such like repairs. I likewise will a nd direct that each of the girls at home choose four sheep out of the flo ck to be their own the balance not granted to be sold and lastly I do here by appoint my son Thomas my sole executor of this my last will and testame nt, hereby revoking all former wills by me made.

At a Special Court held on the nineth day of May in the year of our Lord e ighteen hundred and thirty five Present the Honerable Jacob Bleckensderfe r, Peter Williams and Reason Pritcherd associate Judges of the court of Co mmon Pleas for the county of Tuscarawas. The last will and testament of Ge orge Richardson was brought into court and proven to the satisfaction of t he court to be the last will and testament of the said George Richards on by Isaac Steese and Daniel Lint the subscribing witnesses to said wi ll who testified that the said testator signed and sealed the same in the re presents that he knew the contents thereof and declared the sa me to be his last will and testament that he was of sound mind and memo ry of full age and not under any restraint whereupon the court order th at letters testamentary isssue to Thomas Richardson the executor nam ed in said will that he give bond in the sum of two thousand dollars Hen ry Miller farmer and James Richardson being offered was approved as securi ty ordered that John Baltzley, Jacob Showalter and John Walter appraise sa id estate whereupon the said executor appeared and was quallified.
