GEORGE MONTAGUE, bp. at Burnham 14 Sept. 1567; buried there 11 Sept. 1640 (Bucks. Record Office, Burnham's bishop's transcripts); m. (1) JOAN -----, perhaps Joan Maston, sister of Thomas, or perhaps a sister-in-law of Thomas. Thomas Maston, in his 1617 will (PCC, 37 Weldon) named "my brother George Mountague of Boveney, Bucks." Joan was buried 29 Sept. 1626 at Burnham as "Joan Mountague, wife of George Mountague." George m. (2) SUSAN NORRIS, according to his brother William in the visitation pedigree. Susan was buried at Burnham, 15[?] Sept. 1640 (Bucks. Record Office, Burnham bishop's transcripts). Administration of his estate, valued at £207 10s. 9d., was granted to his brother William "of Boveney," 2 Oct. 1640 (Bucks. Record Office, Arch. Bucks., Oct. 1641, folio 31). Apparently George died without issue.
