WILLIAM MONTAGUE, bp. at Burnham 18 April 1562. Admitted at King's College Cambridge (age 18) a scholar from Eton, 4 Sept. 1581; matriculated 1581, B.A. 1585/6; M.A. 1589; fellow of King's College 1584 to 1595 when he succeeded to the Boveney estate of his father William Montague (Eton Register, pp. 235-236; John Venn and J.A. Venn, Alumni Cantabrigiensus, Part I, From the Earliest Times to 1751, 4 vols. [Cambridge, 1924], 3:202). William was the 1634 informant for the visitation pedigree and was still alive in 1640 when he was appointed administrator of the estate of his brother George. Searches have been made for his probate record, without success.
