Facts and Events
George was a carpenter / joiner.   Married 1880?   Per 1881 Census for 9 Walney Road, Barrow in Furness, Lancashire details as follows:- Head of Household : George McVicar, Age : 27, Born : Scotland, Occupation : Joiner Spouse: Susan McVicar Age : 26, Birth Year : 1855, Born : Scotland, Occupation : None   Record details Name of deceased George Mcvicker Last place of residence 73 Westbourne St Age 72 Years Sex Date of death 14 June 1926 Date of burial 17 June 1926 Cemetery Dundonald Cemetery Grave section and number B2 212 Burial type Earth Burial
If age in census is correct George would only have been 70 at death   Married Susan Ferguson on 8 April 1880 at 31 King Street, Port Glasgow (Age 27) after Banns according to Church of Scotland   There is a Duncan Hood McVicar (Age 8 days) - Premature Birth died 15 December 1914 at 636 Govan Road, Govan, Glasgow. Father - George McVicar (Boilermaker), Mother - Margaret McVicar (Nee McBurney). This must be some connection in view of the "Hood" name. Is it possible that granda had another brother??? Although 1901 and 1911 census shows 6 dead children in family (George and Susan) the George (Boilermaker) was obviously still alive in 1914???References
