Mayberry, George - born Oct. 1760 in New Jersey; entered service 1779 in Bedford County, Virginia where he resided; moved abt. 6 years after the Revolutionary War to Hancock County, Tennessee, then to Perry County, Alabama, where he was granted Pension 1832 when resided there abt. 12 years; query letter in file states soldier resided in Bibb County, Georgia in 1840; query letter in file from descendant Mr. Edythe E. Whitley, Nashville, TN. F-S11030, R1659.

  • Vol. 2 - Delinquents, Augusta County Levy for 1779: George Mabury, gone to Maryland.
  • Page 209.--23d April, 1785. Moses Easley, Crawford Black & Co., by Wm. Crawford, to Henry Miller, mortgage, lot whereon Peter Heiskell now lives, formerly occupied by Enos Atwater, by William Gilham and Thomas Smith, fronting the house of the late Roger North, deceased, and also 80 acres, as described in deed, Gibson to Atwater. Teste: Charles Cameron, Benj. Roberts, Geo. Mayberry.

    George W. Mayberry, b: 1760, New Jersey; d: 1848, Perry County, Alabama; m: 1782, Bedford County, Virginia, Christiana "Christine" Kimberline (Kuemmerle). He lived in Pennsylvania before moving to Bedford County, Virginia; went to Hancock, Cocke, Rhea and Jefferson counties in Tennessee; went to Bibb County, Alabama; and later to Perry County, Alabama. He was a Revolutionary War Soldier, Farmer, early Surveyor, Commissioner of Roads, and a Contractor who helped build the first "Permanent Seat of Justice" in Centerville, Alabama. Most descendants of this line went to Alabama.
