George Henry Kifer, 97, of North Huntingdon, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 1991, at home. He was born July 4, 1893, in Hempfield Township, a son of the late Simon and Ida Altman Kifer.
He was a retired farmer, and a former caretaker of the Brush Creek Cemetery, for 22 years. He also operated the George Kifer and Sons Water Service for many years. He was a member of the Brush Creek Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hempfield Township, where he served as past member of church council, and was a former Sunday School teacher and superintendent. He was a past president of Wegley PTA.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Buzzard Kifer, two brothers, Dr. John J. Kifer, and Charles Kifer, and three sisters, Mary Lauffer, Laura Kifer, and Ruth Evans.
He is survived by four daughers, S. Marie Kifer and Flora B. Kifer, both of North Huntingdon, Gladys I. Sakos of Adamsburg, and Dorothy M. Hall of Swissvale, four sons, Robert G. and Larry H. both of North Huntingdon, Ray D. of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Clay E. Kifer of Hempfield Township; two sisters, Clara K. Wallace of North Huntingdon, and Sara K. Kifer of Tickwal, La.; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
KIFER - Friends of George Henry Kifer, 97, of North Huntingdon, who died Saturday, Jan. 12, 1991, will be received at the William Snyder Funeral Home, 521 Main St., Irwin, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Brush Creek Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hempfield Township, with the Rev. Edward M. Miller, Jr. officiating. Private interment will be in Brush Creek Cemetery, Hempfield Township.
