1880 Census Dist 186, LaFayette, Walker Co., Georgia Jackson, David W M 42 married Farming VA unk unk Jackson, Mary W F 42 wife married keeping house SC SC SC Jackson, William W M 22 son married within the yr laborer GA VA SC Jackson, Margaret W F 15 dau single GA VA SC Jackson, Jacob W M 9 son single GA VA SC Jackson, James Lee W M 8 son single GA VA SC Jackson, George W. W M 6 son single GA VA SC Jackson, John W M 4 son single GA VA SC Jackson, Mary W F 2 dau single GA VA SC Jackson, Pattrick W M 1/12 (March) son single GA VA SC Jackson, Lucy W F 39 daughter-in-law married within the yr SC SC SC There are two problems with this census that stand out to me. First, someone other than David gave the info to the enumerator as David wasn't born in VA and he knew where his parents were born. Second, there are two persons here married within the year, William and Lucy. IF Lucy is William's wife, she is properly listed as a daughter-in-law but it is unlikely she would have been 39 yrs old. As she and her parents birth states are the same as Mary's, then could Lucy have been Mary's sister? Then her age of 39 years would make more sense.
