He graduated from high school in Louisville, Kentucky, then studied under top musicians at Louisville Conservatory of Music. In his early 30s, he was a junior partner in the Greenup Music Co. and served as Methodist Church organist in Mayfield, Kentucky, 1919-26 and in Hopkinsville, 1926-31. George built pianos and organs all his adult life, was an extremely talented pianist and organist, and played for many community affairs.
