Facts and Events
1881 Census lists occupation as Bootmaker. He was reputed to be a builder in the Mortlake area of greater west London. He apparently built, and then rented out the buildings. This must have been in the latter half of the 1800's, as his own children by Mary WYNNE were being born in the late 1860's. This was however, a second marriage for George as he is recorded as having had four children by an earlier marriage (according to Michael LEWIS's FARRANT tree). He might have been born roughly 1820-1835, no indication of when he died. The Farrant family, were supposed to have been Huguenot weavers who originally settled in the town of Frant, near Royal Tunbridge Wells in East Sussex. (Field family are from Frant.) They are also supposed to have had something to do with the either the 'Mortlake tapestries' if there be such an artifact or possibly the Mortlake Tapestry Works, which there definitely was at one point.
