Will Transcript

In the name of God Amen I George Beall of the County of Hampshire and Common wealth of Virginia being weake of Body but of Perfect and Sound mind and Memory Blesed be almighty God for the same Do make publish and Declare this to be my Last will and Testament in manner and form following, to Wit,
first I will and bequeath to my beloved Wife Prudence Beall all and Singular of my Live Stock of horses Cattle & Sheep which formerly belonged to her in her widowhood and also all and Singular of my household furniture Except what will is hereafter excepted and also the Sum of one hundred Dollars to be paid to her by my Executors on or before the first day of Febr. Next and also the Choice of Seven head of Hogs which is now at my old place on North River and also three Notes Two of which is upon Jacob Snemley of Barkly [Berkeley] County amounting to Thirty Two pounds Ten Shilling Each the other are on James Smith of Hampshire County amounting to Twenty Nine pounds Eighteen Shilling and one year old heifer her Choise of Two and one Heifer Calf and also one Shouel plow and Two _iasing hoes and further I will and bequeath unto my Wife Prodence holey and Saley, the Tract of Land Whereon I Now Live and it is my will that shey pays for the said Tract of Land according to the Contract that I have made for the same.
Second it is my will that the following property to wit: one horse, Two Cows and one Calf and Bell? one Two year old Stear and the Ballance of my Stock of Hogs one feather Bed, Two sheets one Coverled?, one blanket & two pillows and aleter?, one Bar Shear plow and Cleves one pair of hames & chanes one Bread ax one Drawing knife Two old Choping axes and Coopers addy and also three hundred and three acres of Land Lying in Harcy County Joining Nicholas Sperry and one hundred and Sixty acres of Land Lying on the Drains North River Joining Dorcot Craikes? Land and my Riding Saddle and Bridle and all my wearing aparrel Except my Great Coat and hat which I give to my Wife to Dispose of as she pleas.
Shall be Sale at publeck Sale by my Executors and the money arising therefrom to be aplied to paying my Just Debts and the Residue of any there b Shall be Divided one half to my Daughter Ann Thompson and the other half to be Equally Devided Between my Two sons Elisha and Ely Beall and it is my will that my Two Sons Elisha and Ely Beall have my Lot of Land which lies between ___ Two Tracts of Land and they they pay to my Daughter Ann Thompson the Sum of fifteen pounds to be paid within Six months after my Decease and Further ___ bequest unto my Son Ely Beall one Small Tract of Land Joining his own and on the North Side of the North River Containing fifty or fifty five acres and further it us my Will that my Wife have the one half of the Small Grane? that is now going on the Land whereon I formerly Lived and my Son Ely the other half according to the Contract formerly made between him and my Self and als it is my will that my tenfhs? have all my Gees [Geese] and poltrey to her own use and also I do hereby Constitute Nominate and apoint John Parrill Senior and John Thompson Sole Executurs of this my Last Will and Testament hereby Renouncing all former Will by me made in Testimony where I have hereunto Set my hand and fixed by Seal this Twenty Seventy Day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred and Ninety Seven.

  • Vol. 2 - Burns (Brenn) vs. Beall's executors--O. S. 68; N. S. 23--Will of George Beall of Hampshire County dated 27th June, 1797, proved in Hampshire 18th September, 1797. Wife Prudence, daughter Ann Thompson (wife of John Thompson), sons Elisha and Ely. John Parril refused to qualify executor. Prudence was widow of David Ferguson (?). In 1798, in Hampshire, Peter Burns was appointed guardian of Catherine, John, David and Andrew Ferguson, orphans of David Ferguson, deceased. After David's decease his widow, Prudence, married George Beall. Prudence had administered on Ferguson's estate in Berkeley.
