George Dowell Basham

Eldest child of Bartlett (Barlett) Angel Basham by his first wife, Rachel Mayberry, George's grandfather Obediah (DAR #-A007160)also served in the Revolutionary War. Both his father and grandfather later came to Breckinridge County, Kentucky.
George married Susan M. Campbell, and was part of the family migration to Kentucky. He appears in Breckinridge County as the head-of-household on the 1830 and 1840 census, but died before the enumeration of the 1850 census, on which his wife appears as the widowed head of household.
Based on the fact that his youngest child, Milton, was reported to be a year old in 1850, and allowing for vagaries in reporting, we can estimate that George died between 1848 and 1850. No death or burial record has yet been discovered to confirm an actual date.
