From the May 9, 1940, edition of the Oelwein (IA) Daily Register Funeral Services for Mrs. Ryan Funeral services were held for Mrs. Genevieve (Tinker) Ryan, 64, Tuesday morning at 9:30 am from the Rosary of the Dan Ivory residence. Burial was at the Cox Creek Cemetery. She passed away Friday morning at a hospital in Minneapolis following a stroke. Genevieve Ivory, daughter of James and Catherine Ivory, was born Jan. 16, 1876, on a farm five miles north of Strawberry Point. She graduated from the local high school in 1892. She was married to Jacob A. Tinker Nov. 10, 1894, who passed away Feb. 5, 1919. To this union six sons and three daughters were born. They had lived on a farm north of town and following his death, Mrs. Tinker and the children moved to town. Dec. 1, 1921, [s]he married Edward Ryan and following this marriage, she made her home in Minneapolis, Minn. Surviving are her husband, six sons, Cyril Tinker of Dubuque, Edward J. Tinker of Greeley, Clarence, William, Lloyd and Daniel Tinker of Mineapolis; three daughters, Mrs. S.J. Palmer and Mrs. S.A. Costello of Minneapolis and Mrs. W.P. Weber of St. Paul, Minn.; one sister, Mrs. J.M. Henry of Greeley; one brother, D.J. Ivory of Strawberry Point; and 19 grandchildren. Image Gallery
