  5. GALESBURG - Frederick K. Erickson, 86, of 275 E. Carl Sandburg Drive, formerly of 1142 Windcrest Acres, died at 5:03 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 29, 2002, at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
    Born June 4, 1916, in Galesburg to Fred V. and Lola Keeling Erickson, he married Margaret E. Spangler on Aug. 25, 1940, in Galesburg. She survives. Also surviving are one son, Lee Erickson of Church Hill, Tenn.; three daughters, Susie Richardson and Carol Erickson, both of Galesburg, and Elaine Karch of Heyworth; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by one brother, two sisters and one granddaughter.
    He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285.
    He graduated from Knox College.
    He owned and operated a laundry business.
    He had been an automobile investigator for the Illinois Secretary of State's Office, worked for Admiral Corp., worked at the Rex Johnson Elevator in Oneida, had been stock room manager of the former Arlan's Department Store, and was a clerk for several area auctioneers.
    He retired from the Illinois Department of Revenue.
    He was a member and past president of the Galesburg Noon Lion's Club and member and past president of Illinois State Employee Association.
    He served on the Knox County Board, as a Republican precinct committeeman, and had belonged to the John Erickson Republican League.
    He was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
    Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at East Linwood Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by his American Legion post. The Rev. Doug Johnson will officiate. Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Friday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel.
    Memorials can be made to American Diabetes Association or the Community Bible Church in Knoxville.
