Birth[1][2] 29 Jul 1726 New Rochelle, Westchester County, New York
Death[3] Abt 1808

Belonged to the Presbyterian "persuasion," no church building in which to worship; held church meetings in his home. Later converted to Methodism (first in the New Rochelle area). During Revolution, stayed loyal to the British (which had been very good to the Huguenots), fled to NYC; returned to his farm before the end of the war. Taken prisoner by rebels? in October 1776. Confined in Exeter, NH. In November 1780, indicted for "adhering to the enemies of this State." In 1783, went to St. John's New Brunswick (and later to Annapolis Royal); granted property. In the meantime, his 324 acres back in America were forfeited, confiscated by NY legislature, and given to Tom Paine for services; Paine ultimately sold the property. Back in Nova Scotia, Frederick Davoue, Senior, is an established businessman in 1785. [Same is more or less documented in the Journal of Francis Asbury, Chapter 1.]
