MEMORIAL: Frank Arthur Kidson WALKER (scholar 1895-1904) was born at Steatham, London, 23 October, 1887. On leaving school he worked in the School Office for a year and then spent a year as a junior master, after which he studied at The Flounder's Institute, Leeds, for two years, taking the Intermediate B.Sc. of the University of Leeds in 1908. He then went out to Canada and took up farming in the West near Medicine Hat. He visited England in 1911 and in the following year married, at Truro, Nova Scotia, Gertrude, second daughter of Frederick Andrews. For two years he farmed at Hillaton, Nova Scotia, then kept store at Sheffield Mills for ten years and moved from there to Chipman Corner where he travelled for a wholesale grocery firm. In 1935 he moved into Kentville and there operated a Fish Market until his death on 9 December 1940. He was fond of games, especially cricket, and he founded a cricket club at Kentville which functioned very successfully for about ten years. His wife and three daughters survive him. |
