Insurance Editor of Chicago Paper Dies

Frank L. Bowen, who retired last April 9 as the insurance editor of the Chicago Daily News, died today at his home in suburban La Grange. He could have been 76 on Jan. 16.

Bowen joined the Daily News as a reporter in 1900, served as exchange editor, assistant makeup editor, assistant financial editor and as insurance editor since 1932.

Frank L. Bowen 75, retired insurance editor of the Chicago Daily News, died yesterday at his home 201 N. Catherine Av., La Grange. Mr. Bowen became a reporter for the Daily News after his graduation from the University of Michigan law school in 1900. He entered the financial department in 1920 as a assistant financial editor, and became insurance editor in 1932. He is survived by his widow, Grace: two sons, Frank L. Jr., and Richard I., and two brothers.
