Of additional interest to note is the Francis Raines that John Avery transports to Maryland along with his wife and Edward Perkins. Raines seems almost certain to be the Francis Raines recorded as born in Wapping the same year as John Avery. His christening was recorded on July 9, 1632 as the son of Robert & Grace Raines who resided on the New Stairs of the Wapping docks. As he appears to be a fellow mariner born in Wapping, it is likely he was employed as a seaman for John Avery.
