- ↑ The Bacon Copy has clearly applied two birth records to the name David, while the Peabody Genealogy thinks one belongs to Francis. Clearly Francis exists, to this seems reasonable. David's death in 1726, in 49th y. (age 48), works out to 1678, and there is no death of an infant David to justify two births belonging to David.
- ↑ There is a death in Topsfield of "PABODY, Samuel, s. Francis and Mary, Jan. 23, 1711. C.R.". No reference to this in the Peabody genealogy has been noticed. This clearly is not the son of the grandfather Francis and his wife Mary, as his son had his own death record in 1677, and they would have been too old to have another son after that death. The only other grandchild named Francis married Dorothy and would not have been old enough to have a previous wife in 1711, being then only 17. So it appears this Francis may have had a wife Mary, and one child Samuel, before he died in France?
