Services for Francis A. "Franny" Barrett, 71, who resided with his daughter, Kelley McGinnis, 4518 Camelot Drive, formerly of 515 Almond St., will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, where there will be a flag presentation accorded by the American Legion, Post 6, of Dubuque. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home, 1640 Main St., where there will be a wake service at 4 p.m. Mr. Barrett was an assistant manager of a State of Iowa Liquor Store, retiring in 1987. He was born on Sept. 19, 1924, in Dubuque, son of John and Rose (Donovan) Barrett. He died Wednesday morning, Feb. 28, 1996, at home. He married Elizabeth Kane on Nov. 15, 1951, at St. Raphael's Cathedral, Dubuque; she died on March 30, 1981. He was in the Navy during World War II with his service spent overseas. He was close to his grandchildren and loved them very much. Surviving are his daughter, Mrs. Ron (Kelley) McGinnis, of Dubuque; two grandchildren, Keith and Shawn, both of Dubuque; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Casey and Mrs. Marie Hoover, both of Dubuque; a brother, Louis Barrett, of Dubuque; and a sister-in-law, Monica Barrett, of Dubuque. He also was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Willie Barrett and Martin Barrett; a sister and brother-in-law, Catherine and Milo Pierrie; a brother and sister-in-law, John and Della Barrett; a sister and brother-in-law, Rosetta and Cy Meitl; and a brother and sister-in-law, Leo and Lois Barrett. A Francis A. Barrett Memorial Fund has been established.
