Thomas Cresap It is interesting to discover that Frances Low Henthorn, wife of John Henthorn, Sr., was a niece of Col. Thomas Cresap (1694-1790). He was a Maryland frontiersman who lived at Oldtown, Maryland for half a century. Thomas Cresap married Hannah Johnson, sister of Frances' mother, Elizabeth Johnson. ...Frances was a cousin of Capt. Michael Cresap, who took a company to Cambridge, Mass. in the summer of 1775. He became ill and died in New York City in October 1775, while trying to return home. Frances was named for her grandmother Johnson. Frances, born about 1716, died soon after the birth of her daughter, Sarah, in 1744. |
