Florence Schroeder, 85, Luana, died Monday, December 13, 2004, at the Good Samaritan Center, Postville, following a short illness. Funeral services were held Friday, December 17 at St. John Lutheran Church, Luana, with Rev. Christopher Staley officiating. Burial followed at St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Luana. Leonard Funeral Home, Monona, was in charge of arrangements.

Florence Edna was born July 10, 1919, in rural Allamakee County to Edward and Selma (Bruehahn) Hamann. Florence was baptized December 30, 1919, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona, and confirmed there on March 15, 1936. She received her education through eighth grade at Hickory Creek Country School and attended Luana High School through ninth grade.

She was united in marriage to Harold Schroeder on February 22, 1938, at St. Paul Lutheran Parsonage, Monona. Two sons were born to this union.

Florence was a homemaker, helped on the farm, and cooked at the Luana School for eleven years. She loved gardening and flowers and cooking for the family and her grandchildren.

Survivors include her two sons, Larry (Anna) of Monona and Jerry (Mary) of Luana; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Laura Duvel of Postville.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Harold on July 21, 1990; and one brother, Milton Hamann.

Casketbearers were Jay Schroeder, Ethan Schroeder, Jared Schroeder, David Huskey Jr., and John Goode.
