Facts and Events
Her childhood was spent in working around the household helping her mother and caring for the large family. Many times the girls were obliged to do the work assigned to the boys of the family, because the boys would leave the wood pile and go off into the woods hunting. Undoubtedly the urge to hunt and explore came from their pioneer parents and grand parents, who spent their entire lives in the forests, clearing land and hunting as a necessity. References
