Fanny Ainscough was born around 1867 in Blackrod and was the daughter of Ralph Ainscough (1841) and Ellen Booth. In 1871 she was living at 13 Little Scotland in Blackrod. In 1881 she was working as a cotton operative and was living at 434 Top Toll Bar in Westhoughton. She married James Hurst (1860) in 1885. In 1891 she was a cotton weaver and was living with her parents and her daughter Ellen at 256 Chorley Road in Westhoughton. In 1901, she was living at 11 Manchester Road, Westhoughton and working as a grocer at home. Fanny was widowed in 1910 when husband James Hurst was killed in the Pretoria Pit Disaster in Wigan.
