He married Eve Gochnauer daughter of Jacob Gochnauer of Manheim Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, and sister of Magdalena, wife of John's brother Abraham Welty. This is confirmed by a deed of November 23, 1758 in Manheim Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Eve 'Weldy' lived in East Huntington Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, on 18 June 1802, when she wrote her will, but died in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, shortly before 7 November 1806, when her will was proved in court. Eve Welty and some of her children moved, probably in 1796, to the growing Mennonite settlement in East Huntingdon Township, Westmoreland county, Pennsylvania, where her son Abraham, a Mennonite bishop, was living in 1800. Eve (Gochnauer) Welty's will. written in 1802. reads as follows: In the name of God Amen. I Eve Weldey of the East Huntingdon Township, Westmoreland County and State of Pennsylvania being very weak of Body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God. Calling into mind the mortality of the body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, make and ordain this my last will & testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recomend my soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it and my body I recommand to the earth- to be buried in deceant Christian Burial nothing doubting but at the Gencral Resurraction I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me within this life I givc devise and dispose of thc same in the following manner and for me first I give and bequeath to my well beloved Children Peter Weldy JacobWeldy John Weldy Abraham Weldy Josclph Weldy Catrean Gedncr Ann Miars Florana Bixler Eve Gedner and Elizabeth Strome and the children of Barbray Rubbel and Margret Elenbarger Diseast shall have share and share alike and the one child of Barbra Rubbel shall have one share and the for children of Margret Elenbarger shall have one share and whereas Abraham Weldy and David Strome was surety for Peter Elenbarger and if it shall happen that she will have the money to pay that it shall be paid out of the share is coming into the fore children of Margret Elenbarger and when as Joseph Weldy left this state, and has left several debts unpaid and his just debts shall be paid out of his share [...unclear...] in this state, without interest and if it shood happen that the one child of Barbra Rubbel shood before wared die then her sere shall deceed to my before named Children Equal shears alike and my just debts and funeral expences shall be first paid by three honest and imparchel men I likewise Constitute make and ordain Abraham Myars and Peter Wildee sole Executors of this my last will and Testament I do hereby utterly disallow revoke disannul all and every other former Testament Will Legacies bequeathed ratifying and Confirming this and no other to be my last will and Testament In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and sale this Eighteenth day of June one thousand eight hundred and t Eve Weldy (seal) Sind seld published and declared by said Eve Waldy as her last will and Testament and in the presents of us Michael Hart Elizabeth (her X mark) Miars Gasper Tarr Her will was probated on 7 November 1806 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania.
