Hampden Probate 2041 shows distribution of estate to widow Maria Calkins and children "Erwin: Erskine & Elsie Amelia".
↑ The dates on this page, d. 8 Mar 1848, age 17, so born about 1831, come from a Find A Grave memorial. The picture is of a footstone labelled "E. E. C.", so it is not known where these dates came from, as they have not been found in Springfield or Wilbraham records. Probate documents for the father mention "Erwin: Erskine" which the Sharps manuscript assumes is two different sons, but appears to be a single individual, a conclusion which is heavily influenced by the 1840 census in Springfield which shows one male 5-10 and one female 5-10, besides the husband and wife. Noting that the Sharps manuscript is unaware of the earlier marriage and has no dates for any of the children, it does not seem to have anything not considered here.
