He was a cabinet maker. Buried Rosehill Cem., Chicago ILL He was 5' 4" tall with amber hair and blue eyes Was Captain in Civil War-His unit was assigned to guard the railroads in Tennessee Also was in Mexican war 1846-1848.

Enos Turner served in the Mexican War approx 1846-1848 - Mounted Rifle regiment Company D under Henry C Pope-enlisted for five years-sworn in Louisville KY Sept 1846 - honorable discharged April 28 1848 in Baton Rouge LA for hemorrhaging of the lungs (TB). He states he was born in Beaver City PA. By May 1848 he was back in Beaver Co Pa. May 1855 Enos states in short affidavit before alderman in Pittsburgh that he had been in the Mexican War - doctor felt his disability would prevent him from earning a living as a cabinet maker.

Pope to join army - Mexican war - enlisted Louisville, KY Sept 29 for 5 years Company D, Regiment 1 of U S Mounted Rifles - examined at Jefferson Barracks in St Louis - probably traveled to new Orleans and then by boat to Vera Cruz - served as private & bugler also body guard to Gen Winfield Scott - engaged in battle at Vera Cruz between March 11 - 24th, 1847 and slightly wounded in his left hand 1847 - Arpil contracted Yellow Fever & sent to hospital at Vera Cruz for 5 wks then sent to hospital in New Orleans in June and remained there till Sept when returned to duty at Baton Rouge - during military duty at Baton Rouge contracted Hermorrhage of the Lungs and not well enough to stay in army- 1848 - April 20 received honorable discharge at Baton Rouge, LA, age 21, birthplace Beaver City PA 1848 - May 24 returned to Beaver Co 1849 - June sold 160 acres of Bounty Land to Moses Perin - from signed in Allegheny Co PA 1850 - census - living in Pittsburgh, unmarried 1850 - married Eliza Martin 1851/2 birth of Daughter Martha 1853 - birth of son George 1855 - May 3 - at Pittsburgh sworn affidavit - age 27 - stated Hermorrhage of the Lungs contracted in Mexican War would prevent making a living from his trade of cabinet maker 1855 - birth of son Martin 1858 - birth of son Benjamin 1859 - birth of son John 1862 - birth of son Abraham 1862 - death of Wife eliza in Illinois 1863 - married second wife Catherine Haines 1865 - birth of daughter Lucy Ann 1866 - death of second wife in Illinois 1864 - Aug to Jan 1865 recruited troops for Civil War 1865 - Jan mustered into Union Army and sent to Tullahoma TN - approx 1st of April injured (hernia) when jumped off horse to keep from being shot - discharged April 24 because of injury 1867 - married third wife Helen Griffin 18 April in Illinois 1868 - Spring had pneumonia - birth & death of daughter Helen 1870 - birth & death of child Illinois 1873 - birth of son of Arthur in Illinois 1875 - Chicago - house burnt - destroyed Bible 1876 - birth of son Enos Herbert in Illinois 1877 - moved to Calhoun, Madison Co, Mississippi 1880 - moved to Missouri - lived there about 9 yrs 1888 - moved to Los Angeles-lived there about 4 years 1892 - Spring - returned to Chicago - Englewood on Wentworth Street 1893 - built house on La Salle Street 1898 -Arpil - went to Washington DC to fight for pension raise - while there had right leg above knee broken when he was run over by a mail wagon - 1903 - pension raise was approved 1905 - 18 Jan died in Chicago

Seems to have been closer to Martin Family than his own. Shortly after birth of son George Wsashington Turner in about 1853 Enos moved and bought property not where his mother Martha & some siblings lived in Yellow Creek Twp Ohio but north with Eliza's family. And following Eliza's death son Benjamin was sent to live with Robert Martin Jr family. enos had bought the land in Columbiana Co from an in law of Eliz'a younger brother Luther and sold the property a year later to Eliza's older brother. OBIT FRIDAY 20 JAN 1905 TURNER, ENOS S. beloved husband of Helen L, father of Geroge, Jefferson, Benjamin, John, Arthur, Herbert, Mrs. J. W. Pursley and Mrs. J. W. Kerry Jan 18, 1905 76 years old 10 months, member Meade post No. 444 G.A.R.. Funeral Saturday 10 A.M., from late residence, liv. carriages to Rosehill.
