MRS. EMMA R. CORY.
EMMA R. SMITH, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. H. Smith of Albia, Iowa, was born May 24, 1854, and passed away at Herington, Kansas, February 2, 1938, at the age of 83 years, 8 months and 22 days.
She was united in marriage to Phillip R. Cory at Sheridan, Iowa, November 4, 1879, Her husband preceded her in death August 5, 1912. Since his death she has spent her time with her children. She is survived by three daughters – Mrs. F. E. Heithecker, McPherson, Kans.; Miss Ada B. Cory, Winfield, Kans.; Mrs. W. H. Haire, Herington, Kans.; four sons – Carl C. Cory, Little River, Kans.; Ralph Cory Roseburg, Oregon; Victor L. Cory, Sonora, Texas; Charles C. Cory, Imbler, Washington; fifteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren, other relatives, and many dear friends.
Since 1933 she has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. W. H. Haire, Herington, Kans.
She united with the Methodist church at the age of six years, was a faithful worker, and always willing to do for others.
Funeral services were conducted from the M. E. Church in Little River at 2:00 o'clock Thursday afternoon by the pastor, Rev. Howard L. Williams. The body was laid to rest in Bean cemetery.
