EMMA was an interesting person. She was outgoing and personable. Apparently she did not have a lot of formal education, but was self educated and intelligent.

EMMA was married in her home, and the ceremony was performed in front of the mantle. She stated that there were 150 guests at the wedding! "White Creek" has often been in that small house, and wondered how all those people could have been accomodated there! Why not the church, where her father's funeral was held nine years later?

In the summer of 1920, she and her husband, plus her now adult son, drove to Denver, Colorado to begin a new life, in a climate more suited to Emma's frail health. The family lived there for most of the next twenty years - punctuated by brief moves back to Indianapolis. The family also lived briefly in Florida, and Washington, D. C., where Emma's niece, Mary Louise Wolf, had moved.

In circa 1941 the family moved back to Indianapolis.
