In Milton, Wis., April 13th, 1867, of consumption, Miss Emergene A., daughter of Henry J. and Mercy Garthwait, aged 17 years lacking 5 days. The deceased experienced religion four years ago. During her last sickness, she enjoyed much of the love of God, and had clear and bright visions of heaven and its inhabitants. Shortly before her death, she requested her brothers and sisters to sing the words, “I am going home, to die no more;” and not withstanding her weakness, joined with them, and sang in a clear and distinctive voice. At the close, she requested that the same be sung at her funeral. Truly, “Blessed are the dead that die in the Lord.” J. C. R.
