Seen, age 7, on 1860 census with parents , Goodhope (S. Bloomingville P.O.) Hocking Co., Oh.[p 37 fam #522/515] In 1870 he is 17, with parents in Goodhope (Gibsonville P.O.) Hocking Co., Oh.[p 453 fam #168/168] The LDS shows us one Emanuel Conrad m. Margaret Lowrey, 27 Sept 1877. She isn't present on the 1880 census and may have married another E. C. or she may have died. The 1880 census finds Emanuel as head of house, age 27, a farmer. It is also noted that he is "consumptive." This usually indicates tuberculosis, but could be a chronic bronchitis, as we find he lived to a ripe old age! [p 220B fam #50/51] He married (1) Julia A. KERNS 9 Apr 1882 in Brown Twp., Darke Co., Oh.[Dk CoM, p 57] She was born 25 Feb 1851 in Fairfield Co., Oh. On the1900 census, Emanuel is 47 , a farmer in Brown Twp. With him is wife Julia, 49. They have been married 18 years and she has born 4 children three still alive. The three children are listed with them.[ED 50,p. 63 B, fam #321/328] In 1910, Emanuel is 56 and continues a farmer in Brown Twp., on his own farm. With him is wife Julia A., 59. They have been married 28 years and she has born 4 children, three survive at this time.[ED 76, p 3A, fam #56/57] On the 1920 census, age 66, no occupation, in Jackson Twp., Darke Co., Oh. Wife Julia, 68, is with him. They are living on a farm on "Jackson Twp.-Brown Twp. Road. [ED93, p. 1B, fam #14/14] Julia died 26 Sept 1928, and was buried 29 Sep 1928 in Teegarden Cemetery, Ansonia, Oh. On her death record we see Julia died "at home 1 mile north of Ansonia. [Darke Co., Oh] Father Lewis Kerns, mother Sarah Cradlebaugh of Fairfield Co., Oh." Julia declares on the census that her parents were born in Ohio.[ FOFH, p. 21] Emanuel died May 1937. He apparently remarried after Julia died, as his death record tells us he died "5 mile northeast of Red Key, In[diana], and left widow Margaret PHILLIPPS" [FOFH, p. 21] He is buried in Teegarden Cemetery References
