Ellis Littlepage came to Texas between 1837 and 1840 to obtain a land grant in the new Republic. He went back to his home in Kentucky to gather his family and return to Texas. He, along with his wife Evangeline, their children, Evangeline's brother, Oliver Loving and his wife Susan, arrived in Texas in 1844 and settled in what is now Collin County. Ellis was born in 1800 in Virginia, to John and Annie Littlepage. John was a captain with Virginia's Patriot 1st Light Dragoons, during the Revolutionary War. Upon settling in Texas, Ellis began raising cattle with his brother-in-law, Oliver Loving. Ellis raised cattle for a few years, then turned to farming. He later owned a general store in the old town of Cross Stage, near Granbury, Texas. He and Evangeline had nine children. Ellis died in Granbury in 1873.
