    A transcription of her will:

    In the Name of God Amen. I Elizabeth Powell of Welsh Pool in the County of Montgomery. Widow of Samuel Powell late of the same place deceased do make this my last Will and Testament in manner following -- I give and bequeath unto my Son Samuel Powell my large Bible formerly his Fathers Also the Bed and Bolster at my residence in Welsh Pool aforesaid in which he usually lies with the bedclothes thereunto belonging And the Half Tester Bedstead wit its Curtains and also my six silver Tea Spoons marked S.E.P. Also the chest with two Drawers in it in the Room over the Back parlour in my said Residence or the Hanging Press in the last mentioned Room, the one he may prefer. I give and bequeath unto my Son Thomas Powell the Bed and Bedstead in my said residence in which he usually lies, with the Bolster Bed Curtains & Bed Clothes thereunto belonging also the Writing Desk in the Front Parlour and the Chest of Drawers in the room over the Back Parlour at my said residence I gvie and bequeath unto my Grandson Samuel Powell Son of my Son Matthew Powell deceased the sum of One hundred pounds to be paid to him on his attaining the age of twenty five years the Interest of which I direct to be paid to him in the mean time from the day of my decease by my Executors hereinafter named I also give and bequeath unto him my said Grandson the large Bible and Dictionary formerly his Fathers and the Bed and Bedstead (also formerly his Fathers) in the Room over the Front parlour with the Bolster and Hangings thereunto belonging Also a Pillow, two Pillow Cases, two pairs of Sheets, three Blankets and one Counterpane, also the Chest of Drawers formerly his Uncle James Powells the Oak Table with three Drawers in it, the small [...] in my Bed Room and half a Dozen Knives and Forks that were his Fathers Sword Blades. Provided nevertheless and I hereby declare that if my said Grandson shall depart this life before he attains the said age of twenty five years and without leaving any lawful issue of his Body him surviving them I will and direct that the said legacy or sum of one Hundred pounds shall sink(?) into and form part and parcel of the residue of my personal Estate hereinafter by me bequeathed. I give and bequeath unto my Grand Daughter Elizabeth Powell Daughter of my Son William Powell the sum of Thirty pounds to be paid to her on her attaining the age of twenty one years or being married which shall first happen I also give and bequeath unto my Grand Daughter Jane Powell Daughter of my said Son William Powell the sum of Twenty pounds to be paid to her on her attaining the age of twenty one years or being married which shall first happen And I also give and bequeath unto my Grandson James Powell Son of my said Son William Powell the sum of Ten pounds to be paid to him or his attaining the age of Twenty one years I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Elizabeth Powell the sum of Two Hundred pounds to be paid unto her in one year after my decease and I also give and bequeath unto my said Daughter all the rest and remainder of my Plate Linen China Household Goods and furniture (not hereinbefore specifically bequeathed) and also my Cows I give and bequeath unto my Sons Samuel and Thomas my share of the Shop Tools belonging to the Trade of a Currier and which Trade hath been carried only me since the death of my said Husband with my last mentioned two sons I give and bequeath unto my two sons Henry and William the sum of one pound each And as to all that my one third part on share or Interest of and in the said Trade or Business of Currier (with the exception of the said Shop Tools) and of the leather, Stock in Trade, Book Debts, [...] [...] and other securities for money And also all the rest residue and remainder of my personal Estate and effects of what nature or quality soever and wheresoever situate (subject nevertheless to the payment of my just Debts, the Legacies hereuntobefore bequeathed, my Funeral expences and the expences of proving this my Will, I give and bequeath the same and every part thereof unto my said Children Samuel Powell, Thomas Powell, Henry Powell, William Powell, and Elizabeth Powell, and my said Grandson Samuel Powell, son of my said late son Matthew Powell share and share alike to take as Tenants in Common and not as joint Tenants And Lastly I hereby nominate and appoint my said Son Thomas Powell my Daughter the said Elizabeth Powell, and Thomas Powell of Welsh Pool aforesaid Ironmonger Executors and Executrix of this my will and I do hereby revoke and make void all and every other will and Wills at any time by me heretofore made and do declare this to be my last Will and Testament. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this second day of December one thousand Eight hundred and thirty six (1836)
