"(4) John Withers (James,Wm) is named in the will of his grandfather, Matthew Keene, and is given the Keene home place after the death of his grandmother, Bridget Keene. He and his sister, ***ELIZABETH, evidently spent a great deal of their youth in the home of their grandparents. In his will (1794) he devises the lands inherited from his father and his grandfather in Stafford County, VA to his sons, George and Benjamin Withers, who continued to reside on these lands until Benjamin removed to KY and George died in Stafford County, VA."

"Many years after her death there arose in Fauquier County, Virginia, a lawsuit over her estate, which was not settled until 1788."
