Elizabeth Hunter's origins have yet to be established. If the age given when she died was correct then she was born around 1703. Her first confirmed sighting is on 5th May 1732 when she was married at Brauncewell in Lincolnshire to a labourer called Edward Tindall. After their marriage they moved to Kirkby la Thorpe, about six miles south-east of Brauncewell, where they had a daughter baptised in 1735. Edward died in 1748. On 20th October 1750, Elizabeth married again. Her second husband was a labourer called John Simmerson, who was a widower. They were only married for less than two and a half years; he died in 1753, when he was said to be 62 years old. Elizabeth married for a third time on 20th December 1756, to a carpenter called John Preston, who was also a widower. Elizabeth died in 1769, being buried at Kirkby la Thorpe on 18th October. She was said to be 66 years old. John survived her by seven years. References
