Elizabeth Tayek

Visitation will be today for LaGrange Park resident Elizabeth Mary Tayek, 82, from 3 to 9 pm at Hitzeman Funeral Home, 9445 W. 31st Street, Brookfield.

Services for Mrs. Tayek will be Friday in Monona, Iowa.

Mrs. Tayek died Sunday (Sept. 18, 1994) at Fairview Nursing Home in LaGrange Park.

Elizabeth Mary Gergen married Reuben Tayek in Mary Queen of Heaven Church in Cicero on July 16, 1930, and moved to LaGrange Park in 1957.

During World War II, Mrs. Tayek volunteered at the Rationing Board, worked part-time for two years in the Draft Board Office, manned the Red Cross office one day a week and served as the nutrition chairperson for the Red Cross in Berwyn.

After the war, Mrs. Tayek worked as a beautician and later as a secretary at the Morton Salt Company in Chicago.

Since Mr. Tayek retired in 1973, the Tayeks have traveled to Alaska, Hawaii, every state in the continental United States, Africa, Spain, Mexico and the Caribbean.

Survivors include her husband, Reuben, and one sister, Margaret Fountain.

Elizabeth M. Tayek, 82, of LaGrange Park, Ill., formerly of the Monona area, died Sunday, Sept. 18, 1994, in LaGrange Park after a long illness. Services: 11 am Saturday, St. Patrick Catholic Church. Burial: church cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 9 pm Friday at Schultz's Funeral Home.

Survivors include her husband, Reuben, and a sister, Margaret Fountain of Carlsbad, Calif.
