    Claim 9,997, Widow - ELIZABETH (BONNER) SMITH. SAMPSON SMITH volunteered at Warm Springs, Virginia. Neither she nor her husband were ever married save to each other. Affidavits of LEANDER POWELSON, MARY E. POWELSON, THOMAS SMITH. Claimants address Abingdon, Jefferson Co., Iowa. SAMPSON SMITH drew pension under certificate No. 11,982 up to his death. He obtained a land warrant, which he sold. Widow states that her husband was in PETER SMITH'S Co. in War of 1812, said PETER SMITH was a brother of said SAMPSON SMITH. SAMPSON SMITH died near Abingdon in Jefferson Co., Iowa at the same place where claimant now resides. (Declaration dated June 5, 1878).
