Extract: Eliza Olivent of Staveley Woodthorpe, Derby, widow To George Ludlum of Staveley Woodthorpe, farmer John Charlesworth of Stockport, gingham manufacturer Son William All my live and dead farming stock and implements of husbandry in upon or about the farm I occupy of His Gracethe Duke of Devonshire and all other of my personal Estate Upon trust to allow my two sons William and Thomas Olivent to have the use and enjoyment of the said Farming Stock and Personal Estate and to manage the Farm provided the same is worked and managed in a husbandlike manner and to allow part of the profit in the maintenance education and putting out apprentice my younger children until the youngest attains the age of twenty years and the Executors to receive from time to time the earnings of my son George who is an apprentice and to place the same in a Savings Bank to accumulate for his benefit and on his attaining his majority to pay him the Stock and Interest And my executors to assign the said Farming Stock and personal Estate unto my Sons William and Thomas on my youngest child attaining the age of twenty one years Provided that if at any time during the minority of my youngest child the farm cannot be carried on advantageously my executors are to convert into money the whole of my life [sic] and dead farming Stock Implements of Husbandry and all other personal estate and the money arising therefrom shall be placed out at interest (and in their discretion such part of the principal) in the maintenance education and bringing up of my younger children until the age of twenty-one and in putting out apprentice the two youngest of my children and on the youngest child attaining the age of twenty one to divide the money arising from such sale equally among my said children (except my son George) share and share alike Executors: George Ludlum, John Charlesworth, and my Son William Signed 12 May 1857, Eliza Olivent in the presence of Joseph Redfern, Saml Stanton Proved 6 Mar 1858 by George Ludlum, John Charlesworth and William Olivent Effects under 200£
