My mother told me several things about GW Ballard, Jr. She said the family spoke well of him and said he took very good care of Eliza when she was old. She also said the family story was that the oldest child, Mary, was upset at her mother marrying someone just a year older that Mary and that is why my mother and her cousins didn't know any of the Pitman branch of the family.
