Elisha Holmes (2), son of Elisha, was also a resident of Plymouth, where during his mature life, he owned large tracts of land. For an occupation he engaged in the mercantile business, and he also became the possessor of a large number of ships and several warehouses. He married Sarah Bartlett and they had a large family of children, most of the sons becoming seafaring men.
He married a second wife, Mary Ellis, in 1739 and had the following children:

Ellis 1747
He could write his name, although his father was illiterate.
