Elisha Ford was born 1792, Fauquier County, VA; married (marriage bond dated 16 Oct 1821 in Fauquier County, Virginia) to Nancy Fewell, daughter of James Fewell, born 1803 in Virginia. He resided in Harrison County, Virginia until just before his marriage when he disappears from the Harrison County tax rolls and appears in the rolls of Fauquier Co., VA. He appears in the tax rolls of Fauquier County, VA for two years and then reappears in the tax rolls of Harrison Co., VA. This indicates that he moved back to Fauquier Co. where he married his wife after which he came back to Harrison Co., VA. He is distinguished in the tax rolls of Harrison County by being called “Elisha Ford, of Henry” while his cousin was called “Elisha Ford, of William”. He removed to Johnson County, IA and later to Clarke County, IA where he apparently died, although an exact date of his death has not been found.
