!BIOGRAPHY: Info from Cassedy genealogy: ELISHA ANDREWS, b. 2 Aug. 1750; served in the Revolutionary War, Lieutenant and later Quartermaster; he lived in the town of Stillwater, NY during the Revolution Note-History of Saratoga, NY by Sylvester pg 290 under Stillwater, NY - “Elisha Andrews was among the early settlers 1765-70” and pg. 173 under Methodist Episcopal Church - “Rev. E. Andrews and …….. were circuit preachers” and pg. 237 under Methodist Episcopal Church - “Revs. Elisha Andrews and Wm. H. Backus were the 1st ministers” - not sure if this is the same Elisha, possibly his father?????????????????? He m. MARY DUNNING, in the autumn of 1777 when Burgoyne’s army was advancing toward Albany, she took her 2 young children, Jamice and Eleanor on horseback from Stillwater, NY into Conn. where her father’s family lived Note-The names Dunning and Andrews figure prominently in the early settlement of Malta. There is a Dunning street rural cemetery (n. side of Rte 67 at the intersection of Rte. 9) where a Michael Dunning (1725-1812) pioneer settler of Malta and his wife Hannah are buried. Note - Per D. Cassedy records - “Ashbel Andrews settled there (meaning Malta) around 1774 and may have been preceded by Michael Dunning (`1772*) who came from Conn. with his wife, six sons and three daughters and purchased a large tract of land. Was Mary Dunning one of the daughters?
